CLAY CITY, KY- The Arizona Cup kicked off the outdoor season with a bang, marking the first USAT competition of the circuit and serving as a crucial Olympic and Paralympic Trials event. GAS Bowstrings shooters displayed exceptional talent and skill, securing podium finishes across various divisions.
In a thrilling showdown in the men’s compound division, Mathias Fullerton emerged victorious in his gold medal match against Mike Schloesser. The intense competition saw both archers tied at 144 points, leading to a one-arrow-shoot-off where Mathias’s arrow landed closest to the center, clinching the title.
Olivia Dean showcased her prowess in the women’s compound division, claiming first place after a fierce battle in the gold medal match against GAS shooter Abigial Winterton. Despite a closely contested match, Olivia emerged victorious, highlighting her exceptional skill and determination.
In the men’s recurve division, Jack Wallace secured victory with a commanding 6-2 lead, while GAS shooter Seth McWherter secured a commendable third-place finish, outshooting his opponent with the same 6-2 score.
Tracy Otto demonstrated remarkable skill in the W1 class, securing a third-place finish, while Eric Bennett showcased his talent with a first-place finish in the recurve open men’s division.
Notably, GAS shooters Brady Ellison, Jack Williams, and Catalina GNoriega remain in contention for the Olympic Games. Additionally, archers including Eric Bennett, Jason Tabansky, Tracy Otto, Matt Stutzman, and Chris Hall are vying for spots in the Paralympic Games, highlighting their dedication to excellence in Paralympic archery.
