CLAY CITY, KY – This past week started the first World Cup in Antalya, Türkyie. Several GAS Bowstrings shooters found success at the tournament and some of those shooters found their way to the podium in the women’s compound team rounds. Seven of nine women’s compound team podium finishers were GAS Bowstrings shooters!
The first-place team in the women’s compound division was the United States, made up of GAS Bowstrings shooters Cassidy Cox, Madison Cox, and Danelle Lutz. The US women’s compound team qualified in 8th place, but they were able to make their way through eliminations to the gold medal match against Colombia. Team USA took the gold, shooting a 230 against Colombia’s 229.
The women’s compound Colombian team, who was qualified in 3rd, finished their weekend with a second-place finish overall! Their team included two GAS Bowstrings shooters, Sara Lopez, and Alejanda Usquiano.
Finally, third place went to the women’s compound Mexican team! This team included two GAS Bowstrings shooters, Dafne Quintero, and Andrea Becerra. Team Mexico qualified in 2nd and battled it out in the semi-finals, where they just got beat by Colombia to put them in the bronze medal match. These ladies were determined to come out on top and took the bronze with a final score of 234 to their competitors’ 230.
Congratulations to all these ladies and everyone who made the podium this past weekend at Antalya! We are pleased to see the number of GAS Bowstrings shooters increase at each event. We would like to thank these archers for shooting our strings and for continuing to represent GAS Bowstrings! We look forward to what you ladies can accomplish in the future!
