GAS Bowstrings Celebrates Archery Champions at Russell County ASA

CLAY CITY, KY- The Russell County ASA concluded this weekend with an exhilarating display of archery talent and competition. Held at Fort Moore in Russell County, AL, the event witnessed outstanding performances from GAS Bowstrings archers across various divisions, highlighting their skill and dedication to the sport.

One of the standout moments of the tournament was Cassidy Cox’s historic victory in the Women’s Known Pro division. Cassidy became only the second woman ever to clinch the Women’s Known Pro Champion title since the division’s inception last year. This remarkable achievement also marks Cassidy’s first ASA win, showcasing her talent and determination on the archery course.

In another thrilling showdown, Curtis Broadnax showcased his skills and resilience in the finals shoot-offs. Despite fierce competition, Curtis defended his position on the podium with precision shooting. Although he narrowly missed securing the first-place title, Curtis’s impressive performance earned him a strong second-place finish, falling short by just one bonus ring.

The women’s pro division saw formidable performances from Sharon Wallace and Erin McGladdery. Sharon dominated the class with a commanding 20-point lead going into the shoot-down, ultimately securing a decisive victory with a 16-point lead. Meanwhile, Erin McGladdery demonstrated exceptional skill and determination to secure her second-place finish, showcasing her prowess on the archery range.

In the men’s open pro division, Chance Beaubouef emerged victorious as the Men’s Open Pro Champion after a closely contested battle, beating out his competition by one bonus ring. Harold Cogar showcased his talent in the senior pro class, securing a commendable third-place finish just one point away from the second-place finisher.

Additionally, congratulations are in order for Justin Hannah, Benny Barger, and Paige Pearce for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament, earning them spots in the final shoot-downs after two days of rigorous qualifications.

The ASA circuit continues to be a platform for archers to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level, fostering camaraderie and passion for the sport in local, national, and worldwide archery communities.
