CLAY CITY, KY- This past weekend was the start of the fourth World Cup of the World Archery circuit before the World Cup Finals event in September. World Cup 4 was held in Paris, France, and was also a test event for the 2024 Olympic Games! Several GAS Shooters attended this event and podiumed as well. In fact, out of the six compound medalists, four were shooting GAS Bowstrings! To add to that even further, there was at least one and, in some cases, even both archers in all of the compound medal matches were shooting GAS Bowstrings!
The women’s compound saw two individual GAS shooter podiums with Tanja Gellenthien in second and Jythoi Vennam in third. Remarkably both shooters had a shootoff in their matches to determine the winner. Tanja was just beaten by her competitor to claim gold, and Jyothi was victorious in her match to take the bronze!
In team rounds, the women saw even more success! The Indian team, including Jyothi Vennam, went up against the Mexican team, including GAS shooters Andrea Becerra and Dafne Quintero. The Indian team took the lead with their 234 against Mexico’s 233, where Mexico took second.
In the men’s compound division, two GAS shooters took podium positions! Miguel Becerra took second place after his gold medal match and Jean Pizzaro took third in his bronze medal match, beating out his competitor 147-143.
In team rounds, the men had strong finishes as the Indian men’s team, including GAS shooter Abhishek Verma, took first place scoring 236 to their competitor’s 232 score. Team Denmark, including GAS shooter Mathias Fullerton, was victorious in their bronze medal match where they held a one-point lead over their competitors for the bronze medal!
Finally, in the mixed team matches, the Puerto Rican team, including GAS shooter Jean Pizzaro took second place after their gold medal match and the Netherlands mixed team, including GAS shooters Mike Schloesser and Sanne de Laat, beat out the Denmark team, including GAS shooters Tanja Gellenthien and Mathias Fullerton, in a shootoff 19-18.
