CLAY CITY, Ky. Indoor Archery has begun and GAS shooters have been dominating the podiums! This past weekend at the Rushmore Rumble, nine podium spots were up for grabs out of the men’s compound, women’s compound, and senior compound championship divisions. From those nine spots, GAS Bowstrings shooters took six!
Tanja Gellenthien continued her indoor season success at the Rushmore Rumble with an impressive 900 with 84 x’s! Her qualification score not only put her at the top of the women’s class after qualifications, but her score also beat out all of the men’s compound championship scores, aside from three. She then went in a tight match for first place and beat out her competitor 59-58.
Continuing in the women’s class, Paige Pearce had a successful weekend shooting an 899 with 81 x’s putting her in a tie for third place. Going into her shoot-off match, Paige did not budge as she put up a 60 against her competitor’s 59 for the bronze!
In the men’s compound championship division, fourteen men shot 900s and entered into the shoot-offs to determine the podium. As eliminations drew to a close, Kyle Douglas and his competitor had to shoot for first and Kyle just fell short to secure second place. Then Nick Kappers and his competitor had to shoot to determine third place and Nick took the bronze!
Finally, in the senior men’s championship division, Rob Morgan secured his first-place finish as he was the only one in the division to end qualifications with a 900! Lynn Hoch finished out his qualifications rounds with an 898 with 68 x’s putting him in the shoot-offs to determine third place. After hard-fought elimination rounds, Lynn took bronze!
We would like to congratulate all of these incredible archers on their accomplishments at the Rushmore Rumble! Already the indoor season is looking to be a successful one for GAS shooters and we are excited to see how the season will continue!
