CLAY CITY, KY –Team GAS Bowstrings had a strong showing at the SoCal Shootdown as eight shooters took to the podiums. These shooters overcame obstacles and held onto podium streaks as they finished up the third USAT in the circuit.
Brady Ellison had an incredible comeback and win! He qualified in fourth with a 662, which may not seem out of the ordinary for the class as the fifth-place competitor was two points below him, the third-place competitor was only two points above him, and GAS Shooter, Jack Williams qualified in first with a 668. Brady, however, missed an arrow on his fifth end and still managed to qualify in the top four! He gave it his all-in eliminations beating out his competitors: 6-0, 6-0, 7-1, 6-0, 7-1, and then 6-2 for the gold medal! Jack Williams shot incredibly strong in eliminations as well, beating out his competitor in the bronze medal match 6-0.
In the open divisions, both Eric Bennett and KJ Polish continued their podium streaks! KJ Polish took first place in the compound open men’s division where this will be his third straight gold medal at the USATs this year. Eric Bennett took first place in the recurve open men’s division where this is his third straight podium at the USATs and his first gold medal of the year.
In the compound senior men’s division, James Lutz qualified in first place with a 710 and battled in eliminations to defend his position in first. Meanwhile, Braden Gellenthien qualified in seventh with a 700 score and worked his way up to the bronze medal match where he won 146-143!
Finally, GAS Shooters Paige Pearce and Tanja Gellenthien made the podium this past weekend at SoCal! Tanja shot a strong qualification round putting her in first place in the compound senior women’s division. Paige had a strong round as well placing her in fourth after qualifications. In eliminations, both ladies shot well through their matches where Paige took second after her gold medal match and Tanja took third after her bronze medal match!
