CLAY CITY, KY– As USA Target Nationals was approaching, so was the end of the outdoor target archery season. This meant that if anyone wanted to make a lasting impact on target archery in 2022, this past weekend was the time to do that. Many GAS shooters were able to do that both in the USA Target Nationals and the U.S. Open.
If anyone were to have made a lasting impact on 2022, it was James Lutz! James placed first at USA Target Nationals and in the U.S. Open as he fought for first in his gold medal match 148-147! This wasn’t the biggest news, as James broke his own World Record in men’s senior compound 2×72 round by a mere 2 points!
Toja Ellison had a great finish as she placed first both for USA Target Nationals and the U.S. Open. She had an incredibly tight match for gold as she just beat out Paige Pearce 145-144. Paige became the second-place finisher both for USA Target Nationals and the U.S. Open. This weekend overall was a successful one for the Ellison’s as Brady Ellison topped the men’s recurve division for USA Target Nationals. Then for the U.S. Open Brady finished in second place after battling it out in the gold medal match.
Finishing out the success for GAS Bowstrings shooters, Kris Schaff took third place both for USA Target Nationals and the U.S. Open! He shot an impressive 148 to earn his bronze medal! Congratulations to all GAS shooters who were at the event! We love seeing our strings on the podiums and enjoy seeing so much success!
