CLAY CITY, Ky. – The first stage of the World Cup kicked off on April 18th in Antalya, Turkey where many GAS Bowstrings shooters made the podium not only in their individual divisions but also in the team and mixed team rounds.
The first notable podium from the weekend was the infamous “Mr. Perfect,” Mike Schloesser. He returned to the World Cup to secure his Championship title and defend his number one ranking in the men’s compound division. He proved you will have to shoot next to perfect to knock him from his number one spot.
In addition to Mike’s stellar performance in the men’s compound division, Jean Philippe Boulch had a good showing at the World Cup. He earned third in the men’s compound division, beating out Jean Pizzaro of Puerto Rico, 149-146. In addition to his individual win, Boulch added another bronze medal to his tally with his teammates in the compound men’s team rounds.
Like Boulch, Brady Ellison earned two bronze medals at the first stage. His first bronze medal came from his individual performance in the men’s recurve division as he beat the fourth-place contender, 7-3. His second bronze medal comes from the mixed team rounds where he and his teammate beat Spain 5-3. It was a good weekend for the Ellison’s, as Toja Ellison earned a silver medal in compound mix teams representing Slovenia.
To add to the excitement of the World Cup, Sara López debuted her first set of GAS Bowstrings at Antalya! The world number one put up a great performance as she and Daniel Munoz earned first place in compound mix teams. They were the team that beat Slovenia in a tight match, 157-156.
