CLAY CITY, KY– Beginning on the sixth of July, GAS Bowstrings shooters traveled out to Limerick, Ireland for the World Youth Championships! Several walked away with individual and team podium finishes!
In the compound men’s U18 division, USA’s Dewey Hathaway took first place honors! His gold medal match was a tight one as he defeated his competitor 143-141! In the compound men’s U21 division, two GAS shooters earned top spots! Aljaz Brenk of Slovenia captured his second-place finish after several tough matches! Denmark’s Mathias Fullerton took third place in the division after his 144-139 bronze medal match!
GAS Shooters Dewey Hathaway, Landyn Cox, and Grady Kane made up USA’s men’s compound U18 team. They went on to take third place after defeating their opponent 208-204. The men’s compound U21 team division has several GAS podium finishes! Team Denmark, including GAS shooter Mathias Fullerton, defeated Team Slovenia, including GAS shooter Aljaz Brenk, 228-224. Putting the Denmark men’s team in first and the Slovenia men’s team in second. Team USA rounded out the third-place position, including GAS shooter Isaac Sullivan, beating their competitor 229-213.
Finally, in the compound U18 mixed team, USA’s mixed team, including Dewey Hathaway, took a huge first-place victory over their competitors with a 146-137 finish!
Congratulations to all these archers and their incredible achievements from this past week and weekend. It is a marvel to see the next generation of professional archers take the World Archery stage and it is an honor to see these archers competing with GAS Bowstrings!
