CLAY CITY, KY- Thursday was the start of the Metropolis ASA, which is the second to last ASA in the circuit for the year. This means that podium positions are more important than ever for Shooter of the Year points. GAS shooters made this their goal as over half of those who made the podium in men’s and women’s divisions shot GAS Bowstrings.Â
Joseph Goza made the most out of his weekend at Metropolis. He qualified in first with +28 up going into the shoot down. Joseph was not wanting to let go of his lead as he shot three 10s and two 12s to take a three point lead going into the final arrow. On his last arrow, all he needed was an 8 and Goza shot a 10 to take the win! In addition, this was the first weekend that Joseph Goza competed as a GAS shooter! We are excited to have him a part of the team and wish him much success!Â
Paige made this weekend hers as well, taking her fifth consecutive ASA win in the women’s known pro class! She ended out her qualifying rounds with an incredible +44 up score. In addition, GAS shooters Kateyln Bordwell, Maddison Cox and Cassidy Cox made the women’s known pro shoot down! In the shoot down, Paige never gave up her top position and finished out 16 points ahead of second place! Katelyn Bordwell qualified in third after her qualification scores and shot strong in the shoot down to secure her third place finish!Â
Adding to incredible podium finishes, Erin McGladdery took her first ASA podium finish this past weekend! Erin sat in second place after qualifications with a +9 up score while Sharon Wallace qualified for the shoot downs in first with a +12 score. During the Pressure Point Shoot Down, Sharon went for the 14 to put pressure on Erin’s last shot, but was just low for an eight, taking second place. Erin had a clear shot at first place and shot a solid 10 for her first ASA Champion title!Â
The men’s known pro division notched two podium finishes for GAS Bowstrings shooters! Justin Hannah finished out his qualifying rounds sitting in third with an incredible +60 score and Kyle Douglas qualified in fifth with a strong +56 score. Both of these shooters went to the shoot off matches shooting well up to their final arrow. As scores were tight, Kyle shot a 14 on his last arrow to put the pressure on Justin for his final arrow. Justin shot a strong 14 to finish out the weekend, putting him in second place and Kyle in third!Â
We would also like to congratulate Tony Clem for making the shoot down in the senior known pro class. After qualification rounds, Tony sat in fifth place with a +25 score and maintained that position through the shoot down.Â
Congratulations to all of these archers for making the Pressure Point Shoot Down and the podiums! Now on to the ASA Classic where the Shooters of the Year will be crowned.Â
