The Medal Count Increases at SoCal

CLAY CITY, Ky. – As the dust and mud settled from the shooting ranges in London, Ky, the ranges in Chula Vista started ramping up for the SoCal Shootdown! Archers took to the field working to qualify in a favorable spot for eliminations day which would then hopefully lead to a gold medal match! Several GAS Bowstrings shooters ended up in those matches, meaning that there was almost a shooter in every division that shot a set of GAS strings!

Starting in the recurve senior men’s division, Brady Ellison once again walked away with the gold medal against teammate Jack Williams! Brady had qualified in second place with a 674 just two points shy of Jack William’s first-place qualification score of a 676. The two battled it out in their elimination matches to shoot against each other for first place. Brady one the match by beating Jack 6-2 for the win!

The compound senior men’s division was a complete sweep for GAS Bowstrings as all three podium finishers shot GAS! During qualifications, James Lutz placed 9th, Tate Morgan placed 11th, and Kris Schaff finished 5th. These three archers battled it out during their elimination matches to make the final rounds! James Lutz had a particularly incredible match as he went up against his opponent in the quarter finals and only dropped one point to his opponent’s three points to move forward in the eliminations! In the final rounds, James Lutz went up against Tate Morgan 145-134, which put James Lutz in first and Tate Morgan in second. Kris Schaff had an extremely suspenseful bronze medal shootoff as he and his competitor tied 147-147 after the 5th shooting round where the tie was broken and Schaff was awarded bronze!

In the compound senior women’s division, Paige Pearce qualified with an incredible 709 with 31 x’s beating her own national record! Not far behind was Toja Ellison who qualified in second place with a 704 and 28 x’s! These two worked their way up to the gold medal match where they shot a very suspenseful match which ended 139-138, where Toja Ellison earned 1st place and Paige Pearce earned 2nd!

Also in the compound senior women’s class, a name that is starting to become familiar on the USAT stage and familiar due to her hallmark bowhunter set up in a compound class is Madison Cox! She placed 6th amongst seasoned professionals and worked her way up to the finals matches as well where she just fell short of bronze with a 136 to her competitor’s 142.

GAS Bowstrings would like to congratulate all of these archers and every archer who made a podium this weekend! It is very exciting to see these top-tier archers choose GAS Bowstrings because of their performance and consistency! The proof is in the facts as the medal count for GAS Bowstrings even at the half year mark is at incredible numbers! In total, these professionals have tallied 69 medals where 36 are gold, 17 are silver, and 16 are bronze medals! Congratulations and we can’t wait to see what these totals will look come the end of the year!
